Als je ooit hebt gedroomd van werken onder de Spaanse zon, dan moet je zeker verder lezen. Mijn stage als hotel representative op het prachtige eiland Mallorca – in de regio Alcúdia – was er eentje om nooit te vergeten. In deze blog geef ik je een inkijk in mijn job, de kennis die ik heb opgedaan, en de unieke ervaringen die ik graag met jou deel.
Working in Alcúdia was not just about sunshine and sangria.
I was responsible for three different hotels, each with its own vibe and guests. One of my main tasks? Selling excursions to tourists from all over Europe. I had to quickly switch between languages, cultures, and preferences – which taught me a lot about communication, flexibility, and of course, sales. From German families looking for adventure to British couples seeking a relaxing boat tour – I had to find the perfect match for each guest.
J’ai aussi eu la chance de participer à des excursions exclusives avec TUI.
C’était non seulement super amusant (bonjour croisières et catamaran!), mais aussi éducatif. Ces expériences m’ont permis de mieux conseiller les clients et, cerise sur le gâteau, je pouvais ensuite vendre ces excursions moi-même. Avoir vécu ce que je proposais rendait mon pitch beaucoup authentique – et ça, les clients le sentent.
Every day was a challenge – but in the best way.
Early mornings, busy check-ins, and non-stop questions about what to do on the island kept me on my toes. I learned how to solve problems on the spot, how to build trust with guests, and how to stay cool under pressure (even when the WiFi failed or the bus was late… again).
Et bien sûr, j’ai rencontré des gens incroyables.
Des collègues venus de toute l’Europe et des clients fidèles qui revenaient chaque été. Travailler à l’étranger m’a ouvert les yeux sur ce que je veux in the future: un job dans le tourisme, qui me permet de voyager, connecter et grandir.
