Starting an internship at a travel agency was something I was really looking forward to. I have always loved travelling and discovering new places, and starting my internship at FCM Travel was something that I truly expected to help me find out what was going on behind the scenes. During my internship, I was part of the corporate team, which focuses on booking business trips for companies. It was interesting to see how much planning and organization is needed to make sure every trip goes smoothly for every client.
En faisant mon stage chez FCM Travel, j’ai Ă©tĂ© surprise par l’ampleur du travail nĂ©cessaire Ă l’organisation d’un voyage. Au dĂ©but, jâai surtout observĂ© mes collĂšgues pour comprendre leurs tĂąches quotidiennes. Ils mâont montrĂ© comment ils parlent aux clients, comment ils cherchent les meilleures options pour chaque voyage et comment ils gĂšrent toutes les rĂ©servations. Cela mâa permis de mieux comprendre le fonctionnement dâune agence de voyages.
One of the most interesting parts of my internship was gaining knowledge about making bookings using various systems. I used software such as Expedia, Amadeus, and Atlantis, which are usually used by travel agents to make bookings for their customers. Through these systems, it is possible to book flights, hotels, and other services. I also learned how to book flights through Amadeus and Travelflow. At first, these systems seemed complicated, but with practice, I became more comfortable using them.
Un autre aspect important de mon stage a Ă©tĂ© la communication avec les clients. J’ai appris Ă rĂ©pondre de maniĂšre professionnelle aux courriels en nĂ©erlandais, en français et en anglais. GrĂące aux nombreux contacts internationaux de l’entreprise, j’ai pu perfectionner mes compĂ©tences linguistiques et apprendre Ă communiquer clairement et professionnellement dans plusieurs langues.
In addition to what I have gained from the experience, I have also discovered how important organization is in this sector. Even a small mistake with a booking can cause problems for the traveller or even for the accounting department. I have personally experienced incorrectly billing something, which required a credit note to be issued. That is why it is very important to check every detail carefully before booking a reservation. It made me realize how this work demands a lot of responsibility and precision.
Mon stage chez FCM Travel a Ă©tĂ© une expĂ©rience trĂšs enrichissante. Jâai appris Ă utiliser diffĂ©rents systĂšmes de rĂ©servation, Ă communiquer de maniĂšre professionnelle et Ă mieux comprendre ce secteur. Cette expĂ©rience a encore renforcĂ© mon intĂ©rĂȘt pour le secteur du tourisme et mâa donnĂ© une meilleure idĂ©e de ce que pourrait ĂȘtre mon futur mĂ©tier dans cette industrie.
