You walk into the office of Live To Travel and are immediately surrounded by elephants, giraffes, and computers. Walking over to my desk and being greeted multiple times by the many colleagues who work here has become routine by now, both for me and for them. The first few minutes of the day are usually the same, but the tasks are always different. From creating WETUs for multiple destinations to preparing travel files and printing travel documents. Every day is different, and that variety, along with the flexible hours, makes this internship very interesting.
Ce stage a commencé comme un stage ordinaire, mais s’est finalement révélé bien plus intéressant que prévu. Avant le début de mon stage, j’avais déjà un rendez-vous dans les locaux de Live To Travel à Alost. Nous y avons discuté de mon CV et de ma lettre de motivation, qui ont heureusement été bien accueillis. C’est ainsi que j’ai pu commencer quelques semaines plus tard en tant que stagiaire chez ce tour opérateur réputé.
As I mentioned above, every day is different. The first thing I do when I arrive at the office is turn on my computer and then check my emails and to-do list. Once that’s done, I get started on my tasks. These tasks include creating and reviewing WETUs, preparing and printing travel documents, and many more. Although the tasks often seem the same, the destinations are always different, so it never gets boring.
Au début, je trouvais la création des WETUs très stressante. Il faut penser à tellement d’éléments en même temps et tout saisir correctement. Si je commettais une erreur, par exemple concernant une nuitée ou un transfert, les voyageurs recevaient des informations erronées, et ce n’est bien sûr pas ce qu’on souhaite. Mais plus je m’y exerçais, plus j’y prenais goût. C’est ainsi que j’ai appris beaucoup plus de choses sur les différentes destinations. Aujourd’hui, je crée des WETUs sur l’Afrique du Sud, Zanzibar, l’île Maurice, l’Australie et bien d’autres destinations encore.
Creating travel files didn’t always go smoothly at first, either. For every destination, there are specific details you need to pay attention to. For example, I need to know that for French Polynesia, the text starts with the local agent and that there are no vouchers for this destination. For Zanzibar, on the other hand, vouchers are required, and I also have to look up the transfer times. Despite the chaos at the beginning, I actually really enjoyed putting together travel itineraries. It really felt that I was helping to turn people’s dream trips into reality.
À la fin de ce stage, une question importante reste en suspens: est-ce que je recommanderais cette expérience? Ma réponse est sans hésitation oui. Ce stage chez Live To Travel a été enrichissant et inspirant. C’est une expérience que je n’oublierai jamais.
