When people think about travelling, they often imagine the exciting part: choosing a destination, booking a trip and counting down to departure. But what happens behind the scenes before a journey actually starts? Since the beginning of March, I have had the opportunity to discover exactly that during my internship at Joker, within the individual travel department.
Starting this internship was something I had really been looking forward to. It was the first time that I could experience what happens on the operational side of tourism instead of only seeing the final result as a traveller. I have always appreciated Joker as a tour operator because of its values and travel philosophy, so getting the chance to be part of the team felt very special.
Ce qui m’a le plus marqué pendant ce stage, c’est l’ambiance dans l’entreprise. Dès le premier jour, j’ai été accueillie dans une équipe enthousiaste où tout le monde était prêt à aider et à partager ses connaissances. Même si j’étais stagiaire, je me suis sentie impliquée dans les activités quotidiennes et prise au sérieux.
Pendant mon stage, j’ai pu participer à différentes tâches et découvrir de nombreux aspects du travail dans le tourisme. J’ai également eu l’occasion d’assister à plusieurs réunions : des réunions d’équipe mais aussi des réunions concernant de nouveaux projets et lancements. Au début, il fallait un peu de temps pour comprendre tous les processus, mais après quelques semaines j’ai trouvé mon rythme et je me suis sentie beaucoup plus à l’aise.
Another thing that made this experience memorable was working together with other interns from different schools. We supported each other whenever something was unclear and sometimes worked together on different assignments. It created a motivating and positive atmosphere where everyone could learn from one another.
Au bureau, j’ai aussi découvert une culture d’entreprise que j’ai beaucoup appréciée. Peu importe l’ancienneté ou la fonction de chacun, l’ambiance reste ouverte, respectueuse et assez informelle. Cette manière de travailler rend les échanges plus faciles et crée un environnement agréable au quotidien.
What I found most interesting was finally seeing how much work happens before travellers actually leave on holiday. I already had experience in sales, but discovering everything that happens behind the scenes gave me a completely different perspective. Creating trips, coordinating information and making sure everything runs smoothly requires much more teamwork and preparation than people usually think.
Ce stage a renforcé encore davantage mon intérêt pour le secteur du tourisme et m’a permis de découvrir une nouvelle facette de ce domaine. J’ai compris que derrière chaque voyage se cache énormément de préparation, de coordination et de travail d’équipe. Finalement, les plus beaux voyages ne commencent pas seulement au moment du départ, mais bien en coulisses, longtemps avant que le voyageur fasse ses valises.
