My name is Elias, third year student Tourism & Leisure Management, and I am trilled to share the incredible journey I embarked upon as an intern at Baja Wild Encounters. Over the course of my internship I had the privilege of working with this remarkable organization dedicated to promoting and organizing wildlife tours in La Ventana, Baja California Sur, Mexico.
Eligir dondé hacer mis practicas fue una decisión bastante fácil. La perspectiva de combinar mi amor por la naturaleza con la experiencia práctica en la organización de excursiones para observar la vida salvaje era irresistible. Obviamente tenía que hacer mis practicas con Baja Wild Encounters (BWE).
BWE es una organización pionera comprometida con la conservación de la vida salvaje, el ecoturismo y el desarollo de la communidad local en la región de Baja California Sur. El mejor ejemplo de esa meta es Lorenzo, el capitan de Baja Wild Encounters.

To me this citation is one of the best examples of why Baja Wild Encounters is important for the local community. Not only are they working with the locals, providing them a new source of income, but also educating them on their local ecosystems, growing their knowledge and love for their own land.
Después de un mes y medio, tuve la oportunidad de mostrar mis capacidades guiando mi primer excursión. Guiar estas excursiones no sólo enriqueció las experiencias de los participantes, sino también profundizó mi propria conexión con el medio ambiente y mi pasión por la naturaleza. Me encantó mostrar las maravillas de la naturaleza, inspirar un sentimiento de asombro y aprecio entre los participantes y subrayar la importancia de las prácticas de viaje reponsables.
During my internship at BWE, I had the opportunity to undertake several significant projects. A notable project was the creation of bilingual fact sheets/infographics, which aimed to educate both tourists and locals about the regions wildlife. Trying out new services and evaluate them, create quotes and instagram content and replying to clients were also some of the tasks I took on.
Sin embargo, el proyecto más notable que emprendí fue guiar una excursión privada en barco de varios días. Guiar y organizar la excursión entera para un grupo de viajeros por la región de Baja California Sur fue una experiencia inolvidable. Como guía, tuve el privilegio de compartir mis conocimientos adquiridos a través de una amplia investigación sobre la fauna, los ecosistemas y las buenas practicas a adoptar con los animales, mientras que garantizaba un viaje agradable y educativo para todos los participantes.
My internship with Baja Wild Encounters was an experience of a lifetime. It not only solidified my passion to wildlife & nature, but also gave me a profound sense of purpose. I am immensely grateful to Jamie Lally for giving me this extraordinary opportunity to learn, grow and thrive.
