Okay, here we go… a new school year, new subjects, new experiences…
I liked the subjects and the study material, but the internship… what on earth am I going to do for four months on end? I did not even know what my plans for the coming weekend were, let alone that I knew what I wanted to do in the coming months. But yes, I had to find something. I started the search as soon as the starting signal was given.
It soon became clear to me that I should not be looking for the ideal internship right away. I first had to find out which part of the sector I wanted to immerse myself in most. I was looking for my passion. And that became clear fairly quickly: travel and young people.
Ziezo ik wist welke richting ik mijn zoektocht moest sturen. Maar waar vind je nu dat ideale bedrijf? Uiteindelijk heb ik Summer Bash gevonden dankzij Social Media. Summer Bash zet alles in op marketing en publicatie. Waardoor ik hun dus regelmatig tegenkwam op mijn Instagram. Het geluk zat mij alleen maar mee want Summer Bash was ook een bedrijf waar de Erasmus hogeschool al eerder mee had samengewerkt.
After that, things went very quickly. I sent in my CV, was invited for an interview and before I knew it, my first day of internship had arrived. It was a short day with a lot of information. Jordy, my internship mentor, and owner of Summer Bash, introduced us, me and two other students, to their system. We got our first assignment but before we had to start, we could go home and process all the information. The next day, my internship adventure really began. We were given our place in the office and could immediately start our task. I say now that we were assigned a place, but Summer Bash is not such a strict company at all. In fact, we can choose another place every day if we want.
Summer Bash is een enorm atypisch bedrijf. Binnen het personeel gaat er niet veel volgens het boekje. Er zijn glijdende uren en er worden regelmatig grapjes gemaakt. Het is eigenlijk heel moeilijk om uit te leggen, maar de sfeer die hier hangt vind je in niet veel andere bedrijven.
Ik heb mij hier vanaf het begin enorm welkom gevoeld. Summer Bash is een echte familie. Tijdens mijn stage heb ik mogen kennis maken met een heel groot deel van deze familie. Zowel de office als de crew achter de schermen zetten zich voor de volle 100% in. Iedereen hangt aan elkaar en rekent op elkaar. Om deze band nog te versterken vond er een teambuilding plaats. Ze doen er dus echt alles aan dat ook naast de werkvloer contact wordt gehouden en er echte vriendschappen ontstaan. En dat vind ik zo mooi aan Summer Bash!
Doing an internship at Summer Bash is highly recommended, because as they always say, “let’s make it legendary!”. And believe me, it will be a legendary internship!
