My experience at The Egg Brussels was an adventure. From meeting international clients to learning how the mice industry business works. I fell in love with the idea of becoming a businesswoman who has it all together. However, it now hits me that being that woman isn’t so easy. You have to be very resourceful to manage such a large enterprise as The Egg Brussels. And this has been a big eye-opener to me.
Als stagiaire moet je flexibel en zelfstandig kunnen werken, anders verlies je je baan. Maar op het gebied van bedrijvigheid is er altijd werk aan de winkel. In mijn geval beheer ik voornamelijk de inhoud van social media. Ik liet zien dat dit een van mijn sterke punten was, waar ik mijn vaardigheden als social media content creator verder mocht uitbouwen. Wie had dat ooit gedacht? Van toerisme tot de evenementenafdeling tot het beheren van social media.
In the event sector, you can either learn everything or nothing. You need to take the responsibility to work and learn new things. I have learned that if you aren’t willing to work, develop your skills and be social then you don’t belong in the event sector. Besides that, every company is different, and you need to love what you do otherwise you don’t fit into the team. I was fortunate enough to work with great and respectable men who made my internship a lot more enjoyable.
Er is ook veel bureauwerk dat mijn werk moeilijker maakt door mijn chronische rugziekte. Het is voor mij een hele uitdaging om elke dag achter een bureau te zitten.
The internship might be a good fit for you if you are someone who loves to communicate in person, as well as via mail, phone, etc. and if you are in a good physical condition to work a 9 to 5 shift behind a desk. Know what your strengths are and then try to develop them during the internship.It would be a good fit for you top be a member of this team if you enjoy creating social media content creation.
Wat een unieke ervaring voor me was, was het feit dat er veel B2B klanten waren die zeer belangrijk zijn zoals de Europese Commissie, Amazon, Visit Brussels etc. Dit was zeer aangenaam om connecties te kunnen maken en van dichtbij te mogen meemaken hoe zij hun event omvormden tot unieke congressen, conferences etc.
I really loved how the clients could change the venue with another setup. It was so nice to see what they can do with a big venue like the EGG. I had the opportunity to be part of a lot of events and every event was different. But after all that beauty of the event, there is a lot of organization to do and a lot of responsibility.
As a result, I have lost my heart to the events industry.
