Imagine being a student and suddenly thrown into the world of corporate events, client meetings, creative brainstorms, and yes – the occasional fancy hotel. That’s exactly what my internship at BCD Meetings & Events has been like: dynamic, hands-on, and full of learning moments.
I started on March 3rd for a 16 week internship, joining a small team of four amazing women, all working as Project Leaders. From day one, I wasn’t treated like “just an intern”. I was integrated into the team as a full member. There was no step-by-step manual or basic onboarding. Instead, I was encouraged to dive into ongoing projects and actively contribute.
My tasks were very diverse, which kept things exciting. I helped follow up on client projects from start to finish, created timelines, and made sure everything stayed on track. I also contacted suppliers, requested quotes, made bookings, and coordinated the logistics of each event.
Most of the week, I worked from home. My typical day started around 9:00 AM with coffee and a full inbox. Every Thursday, I headed to Antwerp-Berchem to work at the office, catch up with my colleagues, and have some time together.
One of the highlights was our monthly “work from hotel” days, where we spent a day working from a partner hotel. It was the perfect mix of productivity and networking, a great way to explore new venues and build connections in the industry.
I also got invited to external events, like the Hilton showcase in Brussels, where hotel representatives from across Europe presented their properties and services. These moments helped me step out of my comfort zone and get a feel for the real life dynamics of the event world.
Et c’est justement ça que j’ai adoré : il ne s’agissait pas seulement d’observer, mais bien de participer activement à chaque étape. J’ai appris à contrôler les deadlines, à gérer les attentes des clients, et à collaborer avec des partenaires pour offrir des expériences de qualité.
Chez BCD, j’ai découvert une ambiance de travail à la fois dynamique et bienveillante. On n’a jamais peur de poser une question, parce qu’on sait que l’équipe est là pour nous soutenir. Même en tant que stagiaire, tu es responsabilisé et tu as un vrai impact.
