Hi, ik ben Charlotte en ik loop momenteel stage bij Spotted by Locals als social media manager. Tijdens deze stage leer ik elke dag bij. Ik ben dan ook enorm blij met deze stageplaats! Ondanks dat de stage vanop afstand doorgaat, heb ik wel het gevoel dat ik met open armen werd ontvangen. Samen met de baas, Jorn van der Eng bedacht ik een plan over wat ik allemaal kon doen tijdens deze stage en hoe ik aan het bedrijf kan bijdragen. In het begin was het wat zoeken, omdat het voor ons allebei natuurlijk nieuw was. Maar gaandeweg vonden we onze weg en kwamen er meer en meer interessante taken op mijn pad!
Doing an internship at Spotted by Locals offers you a wide range of tasks. During the internship I occupy myself with the marketing planning and social media posts. I also write a weekly blog article that appears on the website. Furthermore, I am very busy being a Spotter in Brussels, this means visiting spots, taking pictures, talking to the owner or an employee and then pouring all this into a nice little story. In addition, I am currently working on a series of articles about train journeys with stops in different cities. These are my main tasks during the internship, and I will also be doing other things, such as adjusting the layout and photos on the website, updating older articles so that they remain up-to-date, planning a bike route through the city with spots along the way, sending out the monthly newsletter, etc.

Wat ik een echte plus vond aan de stage is dat je naast het takenpakket van social media manager ook Spotter wordt. Dit zorgt voor een leuke afwisseling en laat je echt ‘part of a community’ voelen. Spotter worden is iets wat ik elke student Toerisme- en Recreatiemanagement zou aanraden, of je nu voor deze stageplaats kiest of niet!
I graduate in about a month and I really feel that this internship with Spotted by Locals has been an important experience before I step foot into professional life. Although it is still very exciting to graduate and to throw myself into the working field, I feel more ready for it now. I would definitely recommend this internship if you are interested in copywriting and social media management. I have learned a lot in these areas through this internship.
