As a student of 2TRM at the Erasmus University College in Brussels, I am doing a two-month internship at Landal Mooi Zutendaal, a beautifully situated park surrounded by trees and plants and right next to the ‘Hoge Kempen National Park’ which is known for its beautiful scenery.
Het park behaalde al vier jaar na elkaar een GreenKey certificaat, iets waar ik heel blij van word als natuurliefhebber. Landal Mooi Zutendaal houdt rekening met een tal van dingen om zijn steentje bij te dragen aan de natuur, ze rijden hier rond met elektrische wagentjes, hun water is aangesloten op een waterput, ze hebben insectenhuisjes, veel onkruid in het gras om de biodiversiteit te bevorderen, zonnepanelen, afvalscheiding, fruitbomen enzovoort. As an intern, I stand at the front desk and help the guests and the staff here, everything starts and ends with us. I check people in and out, I answer the phone and everything else you do on a daily basis at a reception. The colleagues here are very nice, I am having fun here every day and there is laughter every day. Dimi is de collega waar ik het liefst mee samenwerk, hij is echt geweldig, we doen elkaar verschieten en maken veel grapjes. Mijn bazin is Annet, zij is ook een heel vriendelijke mevrouw. Ik ga steeds met een grote glimlach naar mijn werk. Meestal begin ik om 9 uur met werken, op sommige dagen om 10 uur en heel soms om 12 uur. During my internship I also stay in a chalet that is located just behind the reception, the chalets are not very modern but you have everything you need. I sleep in a chalet together with another intern, Gylene, a very nice girl from the Netherlands. In total there are three intern chalets here and there are seven of us. ’s Avonds eten we samen en kijken we samen naar tv of zitten we buiten samen lekker te drinken als het mooi weer is. Rondom het park is veel te doen, je hebt hier de Lieteberg waar het blotevoetenpad en het insectenmuseum zich bevinden. De Lieteberg is een deel van het Nationaal Park Hoge Kempen. De omgeving hier is prachtig, je bevindt je hier in een oase van groen!
I am really glad that I chose my internship at Landal, this way I still have a bit of a real internship feeling as a tourism student since we were not allowed to go abroad this year. Also, I am being paid for this, what more can you have than being paid as an internship student?
