London is een aangename, flexibele en snelgroeiende stad. Deze puntjes kan je perfect ook toewijzen aan EazyCity London waar ik mijn stage heb gedaan. Aangekomen op kantoor begroet ik de andere collega’s die zijn toegekomen en installeer ik me aan mijn bureau. Eens de computer is opgestart voer ik de ‘night audit’ uit via Ezee, een systeem waar we alle boekingen regelen. Daarna log ik me in op de e-mail server Outlook en check ik de mails die verstuurd zijn om up-to-date te blijven met lopende zaken en check ik de e-mails die binnengekomen zijn na de kantooruren.
While I am waiting for new e-mails I check our social media online. EazyCity is very active on Facebook and it is one of the platforms we use to reach out to people looking for accommodation in London. I send a message with general info and answer all the questions they have. If I am lucky, the person wants to book the room they want with us (if it is available). I succeeded in this twice and I was so happy that I got the company a booking.
Tussendoor komen er ook telefoons binnen. Dit kan iemand zijn waarmee we samenwerken, onze partners dus. Maar ook kan het zijn dat er iemand belt om iets via de telefoon te verkopen. Er werd me aangeraden om deze mensen op een duidelijke maar beleefde manier af te wimpelen.
After the lunch break I have to show the new interns some things that we do in the company. For example: going with the bedlinnen to the laundry service. I show them the way to the laundry, explain them how the machines works and how to insert the money. After all of this is done, we wait for an hour till it’s finished and we return to the office. Once we arrived at the office the manager, Mary, asks us to go to Argos to collect a few things she ordered online for one of the houses. She also asks me if I want to show one of the houses to the new intern. We collect our stuff and head over to Argos, collect the order and head over to the house to place the pots/pans, cutlery, bins etc. in the house.
Als laatste moet ik nog een huisje tonen in Canning Town aan de nieuwe stagiaire. Aangekomen in het huisje geef ik een kleine rondleiding en leg ik bepaalde zaken uit specifiek over het huis. Ziezo, de werkdag zit er weer op. Ik stap richting het metrostation om de tube terug naar huis te nemen. Vlak voor vertrek word het alom bekende zinnetje gezegd: mind the closing door please, mind the doors.
