Rep?
Het eerste wat je je misschien af vraagt bij het lezen van de titel is: Wat oh wat is een Rep? Wel, in het algemeen is een Rep de aanspreekpersoon voor gasten in een hotel, op een vakantiebestemming. Wanneer gasten een full package vakantie boeken bij TUI kunnen zij rekenen op een contactpersoon ter plaatse. Op het ogenblik dat de gasten aankomen in hun hotel geven wij als Rep een welkomstmeeting! Meestal bevinden de Reps zich bij de receptie in het hotel, we zijn heel herkenbaar door ons blauw uniform (soms hoor je de gasten wel eens van ver `TUI,TUI,… roepen’). Een welkomstmeeting houdt in dat wij informatie geven over het vertrek, hotel, bestemming en regio. Kortom de praktische informatie dat bij een reis komt kijken. Daarnaast hebben we ook fantastische excursies die we verkopen aan onze gasten. Dit is het ongeveer in een notendop wat ik elke dag hier in Benidorm doe. Natuurlijk komt er veel meer bij kijken dan dat. Daarom geef ik met plezier enkele tips mee over hoe je het overleeft zonder vrienden en familie in het buitenland. Hieronder kan je ook een foto zien van ons team inclusief de blauwe uniformen 🙂
How to survive abroad?
If you want to work as a Rep you need to be prepared to live somewhere abroad, far away from your friends and family. If you are homesick easily then I am afraid this job is not for you. The first day, when I arrived here, I was honestly freaking out a little bit (everyone says it is normal so do not be scared). Everything was new and I constantly lost my way back to my apartment. Also, the chances are high that you get to live with another colleague so it is necessary to be social.
But how did I survive it here in Benidorm ? Well, the first evening I made a huge walk to find out where the supermarket was located and where I could buy fruits and vegetables. I would recommend to do a walk on the first day you arrive. Then you can have immediately a good first impression of the neighbourhood you live in.
A second tip is: BE SOCIAL. Every colleague is here without their friends and family so do not hesitate to ask them for a drink out. It is also very nice if you get along with all of your colleagues because it is not the destination that makes your experience abroad great, but the people…. Mark my words!
The last tip I give is, EXPLORE. You are in a different country with probably some great places to visit (otherwise people would not go on holiday to this destination obviously). So you should visit some nice places on your day off. I can tell you, every day off feels like you are on holiday. Last week I visited Murcia on my day off and it is literally my favourite city in Spain.
Zo leuk dat je mijn blogbericht tot het einde leest. Omdat ik zo’n blog schrijven best wel leuk vind heb ik besloten om nog een tweede deel te schrijven. In het tweede deel vertel ik je over wat ik zoal deed in mijn vrije tijd hier!
