I chose the Tourism & Recreation Management program thanks to several months of solo backpacking in Thailand. For symbolic reasons, I also wanted to finish my studies in Thailand  and what better way than with an internship at a tour operator in Khao Lak?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Apr\u00e8s une longue recherche, j\u2019ai choisi Eco Khao Lak Adventure, un tour-op\u00e9rateur qui organise diff\u00e9rentes excursions dans le sud de la Tha\u00eflande. C\u2019\u00e9tait pour moi une belle opportunit\u00e9 de d\u00e9couvrir encore plus et surtout d\u2019acqu\u00e9rir de nouvelles connaissances. L\u2019une de leurs principales excursions est la visite d\u2019un sanctuaire pour \u00e9l\u00e9phants, avec lequel ils ont un partenariat. Pendant la saison basse, j\u2019ai eu la chance d\u2019y travailler, ce qui fut une exp\u00e9rience tr\u00e8s sp\u00e9ciale.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Working at a sanctuary is an experience I\u2019ll probably never forget. Every morning started with greeting my favorite elephant, Kam Lai Gnen, followed by feeding all the elephants. Throughout the day, I guided tourists through the sanctuary in French, Dutch, and especially English. I was responsible for their safety and for ensuring they actually learned something about elephants. Interacting with tourists also teached me a lot.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Malheureusement, le dernier mois de mon stage a eu lieu pendant la saison des pluies, ce qui a rendu le sanctuaire tr\u00e8s calme. Le climat attirait \u00e9galement de nombreux insectes, une aventure en soi ! Pendant les autres mois, j\u2019ai accompagn\u00e9 des visites guid\u00e9es en anglais, mais surtout en allemand, une langue que je ne parle pas, ce qui n\u2019\u00e9tait pas pr\u00e9vu. Les excursions permettaient de d\u00e9couvrir \u00e0 la fois la nature de Khao Sok et la culture des temples.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During these months, I have learned a lot about myself. I experienced ups and downs and discovered even more about Thai culture. If you are very flexible, independent, and eager to explore the south of Thailand, i am sure this internship is for you.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
