Believe it or not but internships aren\u2019t only about making photocopies or coffee. They are incredibly valuable for networking, developing professional skills and above all self-development. Keeping these aspects in mind, I started looking for a company that could offer me those values during my internship. I was immediately intrigued by the work values that WaveMate implemented. Combined with their passion for hospitality, I firmly believed that I had found the perfect internship company.

Durante o meu primeiro encontro online com a WaveMate, tive a oportunidade de iniciar o meu est\u00e1gio em Portugal com 8 outros Jovens Talentos. Fiquei extremamente entusiasmada por completar o meu est\u00e1gio no estrangeiro e ganhar novas experi\u00eancias. O bom tempo foi definitivamente um lado positivo, mas o principal benef\u00edcio foi a sua forma eficaz de trabalhar em equipa enquanto exploravam o novo local.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Em geral, eu estava extremamente stressado com o meu est\u00e1gio. Queria realizar um grande trabalho e desenvolver ainda mais as minhas capacidades profissionais durante o meu tempo na WaveMate. Al\u00e9m disso, tive de viajar sozinho para Portugal durante uma pandemia mundial. Enquanto estava \u00e0 espera no aeroporto, estas inseguran\u00e7as encheram-me a cabe\u00e7a.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

But this quickly shifted when I was greeted by Caro\u2019s warm smile. Her incredible enthusiasm made me feel at ease from the minute I stepped into the van. She surprised us with a welcome drink and some fun facts about the city of Lisbon. ( If these were correct? Well who knows). Upon arrival at our accommodation Amaury, the founder of WaveMate welcomed us with open arms. And from that moment on their passion for hospitality became completely clear to me. As student tourism and leisure management, we did certainly focus on the aspect and importance of hospitality. But nothing compares to the hospitality I experienced that evening.

Every young talent at WaveMate gets a personal project that comes with a corporate title. \u2018Project Manager the villa\u2019ge\u2019. It still sounds a little unusual when I hear this title. I have always struggled with handling a lot of responsibility, mainly coming from a lack of self-confidence. Working on two big projects which require a lot of responsibility is probably my biggest challenge, yet it will be the most valuable lesson during this internship. Luckily, Amaury and the rest of the team constantly encourage me to grow but also reassure me when needed.

Isto leva-me \u00e0 segunda grande parte deste est\u00e1gio: o auto-desenvolvimento. Um conceito a que antes n\u00e3o prestava muita aten\u00e7\u00e3o, nem sabia que poderia ser t\u00e3o valioso durante um est\u00e1gio. Durante a minha primeira semana em Portugal, a WaveMate encorajou-me a atingir objectivos tanto a n\u00edvel profissional como pessoal. Eles implementam um estilo de vida saud\u00e1vel com equil\u00edbrio suficiente entre vida profissional, relaxamento e oportunidades de exerc\u00edcio f\u00edsico.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

WaveMate oferece experi\u00eancias de surf de primeira qualidade, da\u00ed que esta seja tamb\u00e9m uma grande parte do meu est\u00e1gio. Aprender a surfar tem sido sempre um grande sonho meu. Por isso estou entusiasmada por ter a oportunidade de experimentar isto durante o meu est\u00e1gio. N\u00e3o s\u00f3 \u00e9 uma pausa incr\u00edvel do trabalho, como tamb\u00e9m me d\u00e1 uma vis\u00e3o do mundo do surf. Isto poderia ajudar-me a ter em conta as experi\u00eancias pr\u00f3ximas dos desejos dos “companheiros” que viajam com a WaveMate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The opportunity I got to complete my internship at WaveMate is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity that every student or intern should be able to experience. Their innovative way of working motivates me to deliver great work and to further develop myself, to the best of my abilities. At this moment I am developing skills that I will be able to put into practice during my career and my personal life.

Above all, WaveMate has shown me that work can be fun. All you need is a well-balanced work ethic.
